THE CONTROL PANEL

1.      Name the tabs in the mouse properties dialog box. What are they used for?

The tabs in the mouse properties dialog box are:

a.      Buttons – it is the default tab that opens each time the mouse properties dialog box appears.

b.      The pointers tab – it lists a variety of schemes. These schemes give you alternatives to choose different styles of mouse pointers.

c.       Pointer options – it also lists various options related to the pointer.

d.      There are three more tables in the Mouse properties dialog box. These are wheels, hardware and device settings tabs. These tabs are used to view and change the scrolling speed and other properties of the mouse.

 

2.      How will you change the taskbar settings?

The following steps should be followed to change the taskbar settings.

a.      Check the lock the taskbar option to avoid the taskbar from being moved to any other position

b.      Check the auto-hide the taskbar option to hide the taskbar automatically when it is not being used

c.       Check the use of small icons option to use the small icons on the taskbar for the programs that are commonly used

d.      By using the taskbar location on screen drop-down list you can change the location of the taskbar to bottom, left, right and top

e.      By using the taskbar buttons drop-down list you can combine or show separate icons for all files that are using the same program

f.        Click the customize button to change the default settings of the notification are click on customize to see the dialog box.

 

3.      How will you customize the start menu?

The start menu can be customized with the help of the taskbar and start menu properties dialog box.

 

4.      Name the various tabs in the sound dialog box.

Sound dialog box has various tabs in it. They are:

a.      The playback tab that opens every time when we click on the sound option in the hardware and sound dialog box.

b.      The recording tab – this tab shows various recording devices such as microphones

c.       The communication tab – this tab is used when we connect our computer to a telephone line for making or receiving telephone calls through our computer

 

5.      How can you change the location of the taskbar?

By using the Taskbar location on screen drop-down list, you can change the location of the taskbar to bottom, left, right and top.
