Why are
plants important for us?
The plants
are very important for us as we depend on them for food, clothing, medicine and
other things. They also provide oxygen to us.

What are
the two main parts of a plant?
The two main
parts of a plants are: -

Shoot –
the part above the soil

Root –
the part remains under the soil

State any
three functions of the roots?

Roots fix
plants firmly in the soil

They help
the plants to stand straight

They hold
the soil and prevent it from being washed away by water or wind.

What is
photosynthesis? Draw a labelled diagram
The process by which green plants prepare their own
food using carbon dioxide, water and minerals in the presence of sunlight and
chlorophyll is called photosynthesis.
5.
What is
transpiration?
The water
absorbed by roots is carried to various parts of the plant through stem. Leaves
release some of this water in the form of water vapor, to the atmosphere
through the stomata. The process by which plants release water to the
atmosphere is called transpiration.
6.
List four
useful products that we obtain from plants.
Plants gives
us many useful things such as food, fibre, medicines, rubber and wood.
