1.    What are the major physical divisions of our country?

The major physical divisions of our country include:

a.    The Himalayas

b.    The Northern Plains

c.     The Peninsular Plateau

 

2.    Name the three ranges of the Himalayas

The three ranges of the Himalayas are:

a.    The Greater Himalayas/ Himadri Range

b.    The Lesser Himalayas/ Himachal Range

c.     The Outer Himalayas/ Shivalik Range

 

3.    Comment on the importance of the Northern Plains.

The importance of the Northern Plains are:

a.    The plains support farming as they are very fertile.

b.    Road and railways are well developed because of the flat plains.

c.     The plains have a huge population.

d.    Many big cities are located here.

 

4.    What are the two divisions of the Central Highlands?

The central Highland is in the north of the river Narmada. It consists of the Malwa Plateau in the west and the Chota Nagpur Plateau in the east. The Malwa Plateau is between the Aravalli and the Vindhya hills.
