In some plants, a few parts perform functions that are different from what they usually do. These are called modifications.

In plants like cactus that grow in deserts, the leaves get modified into spines. And in a pea plant they get modified into tendrils.

 

4.    What are cereals?

Plants also give us food grains like rice, wheat and maize. These are called cereals.
