Snake gave Perumal a present because he liked both mangoes and guavas.

Perumal planted the twig, soon grew into a fine tree.

Captain and Rufu heard Perumal’s story.

 

6.  Why did the captain groan?

The captain groaned because he had lost his ship.

 

7.  Was Rafu wicked? In what ways?

Yes Rafu was a wicked man because he quietly put some medicine in Perumal’s food and made him sleep to cheat him.

 

8.  What did Perumal do with the few gold coins he had left?

Perumal bought some goats and a small house to live in.

 

9.  How did Perumal get his house back?

Now the tree gave each fruit for two days.  So Perumal went to Rafu challenged him with a diamond. The next day Rafu failed and gave his house back to Perumal.
