COMPUTER SOFTWARE


1.  What is OS? Mention its purpose.

The basic software present in a computer is the operating system. This enables the user to work with the hardware. It helps us manage files and folders to store information.

 

2.  Write names of any two popular operating system.

Windows, Mac OSX.

 

3.  Give one example each of hardware and software.

Hardware:- Monitor, mouse

Software:- Microsoft office,

 

4.  What is the purpose of utility programs?

Utilities are programs that perform tasks related to the management of computer functions like disk repair and data backup. These programs that help the computer to perform better and play an important role in regular upkeep and maintenance of the computer.

 

5.  How is software classified? Name one software in each category.

There are two main types of computer software: system software and application software.

System software controls the operation of a computer. This includes the operating system, language processor and utility programs. Windows is one of the popular operating system.

Application soft wares are written to do a particular task on the computer. Application software is of two types: General-Purpose and Tailor –Made. MS office is one of the important application softwares.
