THE NOUN : GENDER

1.     How many kinds of genders are there? What are their names?

There are four kinds of genders in the nouns. They are:

a.     Masculine gender

b.     Feminine gender

c.      Common gender

d.     Neuter gender.

 

2.     What is masculine gender?

A noun that denotes a male person or animal is said to be of masculine gender.

Ex. Prakash is a strong boy.

 

3.     What is feminine gender?

A noun that denotes a female person or animal is said to be of feminine gender.

Ex. Swati is an intelligent girl

 

4.     What is common gender?

A noun that denotes both male and female is said to be of common gender.

Ex. Children should respect their parents.

 

5.     What is neuter gender?

A noun that denotes a thing that is neither male nor female is said to be of neuter gender.

Ex. She cut the banana with a knife.
